Sign up for different clubs and volunteer groups in college. You can join clubs or participate in another activity. Do what interests you! You’ll be able to make a great impression, fight any home sickness you may have and you can meet new people. One caveat, though, is not to overextend yourself. Your grades come first.
Getting the appropriate amount of sleep at the right times is essential. During your college years, it’s tempting to stay up all night cramming for exams or partying, but rest is essential! Too little sleep leads to an underactive and useless brain, so get your eight hours nightly.
When it comes to succeeding in college, there are many influential factors. In fact, even your choice of seat can make a difference. Don’t sit at the back! Try to sit near the front. You’ll be more engaged and can easily ask questions of your professor without having to shout.
Think carefully about planning your classes so that you are sufficiently challenged without being overloaded. You will quickly find yourself overwhelmed if you sign up for more than four classes. Try taking a couple harder classes and a couple easy ones. Take advantage of the campus library! Knowing your way around the library will prove to be a very valuable resource. Also, become acquainted with the librarian, as she can tell you what resources you need to successfully complete your courses. Libraries often feature postings of textbooks for sale or for trade. Find two students in each class to connect with. It might feel strange to approach strangers, but you will be glad you did. Give them your number as this can expand your contacts and especially helpful if you miss a class. You might even become study buddies.
